Democratic Republic Of Congo
DR Congo’s opposition party- Union for Democracy and Social Progress led by Ettiene Tshisekedi says mediation efforts by former Togolese prime minister Edem Kodjo are not satisfactory.
Kodjo hopes to carry on the mediation with a list of political parties in an upcoming political forum.
The oppostion leader says the mediation efforts by the AU envoy Edem Kodjo should be neutral by placing priority on the resolution of the UN Security Council which encourages the DRC to hold elections on time.
The leader of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress leader has said his party is still waiting on Kodjo to give a clear answer on the involvement of mediators from other international organisations such as those from “The Francophonie”.
Tshisekedi maintains that the choice of Kodjo as the mediator was done without taking into consideration different political views in the DRC.
Ettiene Tshisekedi is a long-time Congolese opposition leader who served as Prime Minister in Congo on three brief occasions.
