Papa Wemba wanted to die doing music - friend

Ivory Coast

Papa Wemba, the acclaimed king of rumba music in DR Congo is dead but he is still being remembered for his strong contribution to music industry in Africa.

According to Sodio Sengola, a friend of Papa Wemba, and the leader of the SAPE, (the Society of Ambiance and Persons of Elegance,) who was speaking on Africanews’s The Morning Call program, the king always wanted to fall with a microphone in his hand, and this vow was fulfilled.

“It appears he was the one promoting music generation in 70’s in Paris. When we look at the music in Paris his name would appear. His work were even recorded by the Black Mic Mac,” said Sodi Sengola.
