Out with the old, in with the new. A day after the head of the French armed forces resigned amid a bitter public row with the president, Emmanuel Macron, General François Lecointre was appointed the country’s new military chief Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s woes continue. This time round a judge has ordered his assets to be frozen.
