The South African Army has held a major capability exercise outside Bloemfontein.
The exercise, an occasional drill, was to showcase its combat readiness.
The event began with a detonation of 800 kg of explosives by Army engineers in demonstration of their ability to create an obstacle.
It also saw live firing and a major firepower demonstration. It was attended by hundreds of invited guests.
The South African Air Force also contributed several helicopters, which were used for landing and takeoff during demonstrations.
