Benin
Popular Benin businessman and politician Sébastien Ajavon, is still under police detention as drug trafficking allegations against him persist.
He was arrested on Friday alongside three of his employees after a cocaine filled container worth 9 billion CFA francs, which allegedly belongs to his company was discovered.
The container was reportedly about to be shipped to Brazil before it was intercepted.
The business magnate who now has the support of Beninese businessmen has denied the accusations saying there is an invisible hand seeking to bring down his political career.
The Association of Beninese businessmen says Ajavon is a man of integrity whose reputation should not be tampered with.
Ajavon who was arrested shortly after granting a press conference to prove his innocence says his family’s honor and that of his employees is at stake and he is not weakened by what he describes as arbitrary detention.
