Cameroon has paid tribute to 4 soldiers including a general who died in a helicopter crash during a combat mission against Boko Haram militants
The officers were killed when their Cameroonian army helicopter crashed in the Far North of the country in what military officials said was an accident.
Authorities confirmed that General Jacob Kodji who was the commander of one of the operations launched by Cameroon against Boko Haram died in the crash together with a colonel and two pilots.
General Jacob Kodji was the patron of Emergence 4, the baptismal name of one of the operations launched by Cameroon against Boko Haram.
He was promoted to General in August 2015 by President Paul Biya.
He is the first Cameroonian General to be killed in the fight against Boko Haram.
