Tunisia on Saturday won the 23rd Africa Cup of Nations Men’s Handball Cup in Libreville,Gabon.
It was the end of an epic clash against Egypt, which ended with a score of 26-24 in favor of the Carthage Eagles.
This win , makes Tunisia the first country to have won the competition ten times
Tunisian handball goalkeeper Marouan Maggaiez said this is as a result of years of hard work.
‘‘We have a young group, there are eight new players and we really have a group that is supportive and very much together’‘,Marouan said.
Reaching the finals of the tournament against Algeria in 2014 and against Egypt in 2016, the senior male Carthage Eagles once gain affirmed the fit condition of African handball
François Epouta, chairman of the organising committee of the 2018 Handball CAN said “you have seen the final for yourself.It is still the African champion team that just fell. But who falls with guns in his hand? As per the information we have received,the African Handball is reinvigorating itself, judging from this Africa Cup of Nations “. Despite their defeat, the Egyptians will participate in the 26th Hand-Ball World Championships in Denmark and Germany next year.
Host nation Gabon, took the 5th place during the tournament , recording its best performance in Gabonese handball history.
