Guinea's former Prime Minister Jean Marie Dore is dead
An opposition leader for years before being chosen to head a transitional government that was in place during the preparation of the 2010 presidential election, Doré was most recently the head of the Union for the Progress of Guinea, a political party in the West African nation.
Doré unsuccessfully ran for President in 1993 and 1998.
He was known for his fiery rhetoric and a sometimes outlandish persona, and was a radical opponent of President Lansana Conté.
The Guinean leader had been hospitalized in France for a month and a half before returning to Conakry to continue treatment .
