Mauritius’ Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport has been adjudged the best airport in Africa for 2015 by the Airport Service Quality awards.
Mauritius has Africa's best airport in 2015
It won in the over 2 million passenger per year category, while South Africa’s Upington Airport won the best airport in Africa in the under 2 million passenger category.
The Airport Service Quality, ASQ, awards is a benchmark of prestige in the aviation industry undertaken by the Airports Council International, ACI.
The airports were appraised by passengers in a survey on customer service.
Over 55,000 passengers at over 30 airports across more than 80 countries took part in the survey. The survey covered 34 service areas and 8 major categories relating to access, security, check in, airport facilities, food and beverages and retail amongst others.
“Airports have evolved into complex, customer-focused businesses in their own right that in many cases are in competition with each other for passenger traffic. From duty free and restaurants to ambiance, cleanliness, courtesy of staff, amenities, efficiency and more, air travellers are expecting big things from the airports through which they travel,” said Angela Gitten, Director General of ACI World.
