Disgraced former President of football’s world governing body, FIFA, Sepp Blatter remains unrepentant, and has called himself a ‘winner’ in leading the organization.
Embattled Blatter remains unrepentant, calls himself 'winner'
“I am a winner. I am a winner. In my life, I’ve always been a winner. Even I was not at the winning position, but I won, because I won a lot of experience. And I am a winner because football is a winner,” he said.
Speaking in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) days after he turned 80, Blatter said that May 27 of 2015 was “a real shock,” when United States Department of Justice and Swiss authorities “produced a tsunami in Zurich, and specially in FIFA.”
He said what he called “tsunami” will end now that FIFA has a new president.
“I’m sure it will stop now. Because there is no reason now, because they have pushed away the president of FIFA, the president of the UEFA, the secretary general of FIFA. So let’s say those, they were in charge of FIFA, they are not any longer there. So now let the new FIFA go in. But for the new president, it’s a challenge. But he is coming from the UEFA. UEFA is a well-organized. He was an organizer, for compliment to him. I’m sure he will, he will do a good job,” he said.
On Feb. 26 of 2015, Sepp Blatter was succeeded by Gianni Infantino (who was the Secretary General of European governing body UEFA) in leading world football’s governing body.

Blatter described as nonsense, claims by some critics who said that he dragged Platini (former UEFA president) down.
“This is the biggest nonsense I have ever heard. Really,” the former president said.
Blatter, who was elected FIFA president on five occasions, is appealing his six-year ban from all football-related activity at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
