Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Mozambican counterpart Filipe Nyusi have signed a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The two countries say the agreement will “strengthen security cooperation” in areas like “defense, maintaining stability and security.”
Nyusi’s six-day visit to China is his second and includes bilateral talks with Chinese leaders and also to visit export-oriented provinces.

“Both sides will further strengthen security cooperation. China is willing to continue to support Mozambique in its capacity building in the aspects of defense, maintaining stability and security,” Zhang Ming, China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs said.
The two held their first bilateral meeting last December in South Africa.
