The extravaganza is arguably Africa’s greatest horse racing event.

Now in it’s 120th year, the 2016 edition drew nearly 60,000 people from across the country. Like every other year, fashion gurus put their best foot forward on the runway.

“I think, it’s equally important to the races because it would not happen without all the fashonistas that are coming here and you see a lot of creativity, and what’s to be predicted as trends in the next season as well,” said Sindi Shangase the organiser of the Durban Fashion Fair

For fashion designers, it is an opportunity to interact with like-minded individuals.

“It’s always nice to come back to the Durban July because this is the biggest fashion event of the year for all sorts of fashion. I think that it’s something that we always look forward to in every designer’s calendar,” said Llewellyn Pillay.
