French oil giant Total has secured an eight-year sponsorship package from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to support 10 of its principal competitions.

In a joint statement released on Thursday, Total will start with the Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon therefore renaming it Total Africa cup of Nations.
“This partnership is a major milestone in our ongoing search for additional resources to accelerate African football’s development,” the President of the Confederation of African Football, Issa Hayatou said.
“Through this commitment, we hope to strengthen ties to our stakeholders and customers through exciting, celebratory events that are always popular, including within our own teams,” President and Chief Executive Officer of Total, Patrick Pouyanne, said on his part.
Total will therefore feature at more than 1,500 matches of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), African Nations Championship (CHAN), CAF inter-club competitions (CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Super Cup), The Youth competitions (U-23, U-20 and U-17 Africa Cup of Nations), The Women Africa Cup of Nations and the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations.
Since 2009, French mobile telecommunication company Orange, was the title sponsor of major African continental competitions.
