Burundi's vote to exit the ICC troubling [The Morning Call]

The vote taken by Burundian lawmakers to leave the ICC was signed without second thought by president Pierre Nkurunziza. This has cast a light of controversy and concern over the move and has been described as a setback to the fight against impunity. President of the ICC’s governing body Sidiki Kaba stated that such a withdrawal besides being a setback, overrides the efforts towards the objective of universality of the Rome statute. On the flip side, the ICC has also been challenged over its focus on Africa more than anywhere else in the world.
