Early voting in Ghana triggers concerns

Scores of Ghanaians including Journalists, persons from the security service, election officials and a number of people who will be working on election day on December 7,on Thursday queued to vote but the exercise went without challenges.

From missing names in the voters register to complete chaos of the process in some parts, it brought to the fore concerns of readiness for the main polls next week.

Ghana’s Electoral Commission has however, assured that the Thursday’s challenges would not repeat itself come the national one.

The Commission held an emergency meeting with all the political parties involved to assure them the challenges will be met head on, and said another round of Special Voting will be conducted on Sunday.

Despite the reassurance, there is little hope among the general voting populace that the EC’s promise of a hassle-free process on December 7, may not happen.
