During the last African Cup of Nations, Cameroonian soccer fans celebrated their team’s victory with a hit song by artiste Kien Renisse Nde. The song ‘Dans la sauce’ – literally meaning ‘in the soup,’ was in reference to how the Indomitable Lions rose to win the trophy in Gabon.

A new trend has popped up in the country following the death of a Roman Catholic bishop of Bafia, Jean-Marie-Balla-Benoit.
The priest is believed to have jumped into the river Sanaga after leaving behind a suicide message in his car. ‘‘Do not look for me! I am in the water,” the note which he signed read. The second part of his note, ‘I’m in the water’ – ‘Je suis dans l’eau’ is the subject if the latest trend.
Social media users are using it to mock the circumstances surrounding the priest’s death even as the search for his body continues. A popular artiste, One Love, has gone as far as composed a funny track out of the incident.
