22 women have secured seats in Kenya’s 350-member parliament to represent their constituencies across the country.
22 women make grand entry into Kenya's parliament
Though a small number, it is an improvement from the 2013 elections when only 16 women made it to parliament.
13 of the women contested for the ruling Jubilee Party, five for the main opposition party Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), one each for Kanu party, Party of Reforms and Democracy, Wiper Democratic Movement and independent candidate respectively.
These are the victorious 22 women and their constituencies.

Sophia Noor – Ijara, Garissa
Peris Tobiko – Kajiado East
Charity Kathambi Chepkwony – Nakuru, Njoro
Martha Wangari – Gilgil
Jayne Kihara – Naivasha
Rachel Nyamai – Kitui South
Ruth Mwaniki – Murang’a
Alice Wahome – Kandara
Mary Waithera – Maragwa
Wanjiku wa Kibe – Gatundu North
Beatrice Kones – Bomet East
Mercy Gakuya – Nairobi County
Naomi Shaban – Taveta
Aisha Jumwa – Malindi
Mishi Mboko – Mombasa
Millie Odhiambo – Suba North
Eve Obara – Kabondo Kasipul
Lilian Gogo – Rangwe
Jessica Nduku – Makueni
They represent their various constituencies in parliament while 47 women representatives elected from each county will join them including the three women senators who grabbed the lower house seats for the first time in the history of the country.
